Skincare isn't going anywhere
Everyone, and I mean every human being has issues with the way look. We are all our hardest critics. It is hard looking in the mirror sometimes and seeing all these imperfections that we constantly analyze. Maybe you feel this way because of social media, and seeing pictures of "flawless" people. No one is perfect, and everyone puts up a front of confidence. It is important to except that you are beautiful despite these imperfections involving acne, skin diseases, redness, rosacea, scars, stretch marks, or whatever else you may think of.
When I was about 10 years old I became obsessed with makeup. I enjoyed making fake YouTube videos on makeup tutorials with my friends, and showing my not so expertise on the beauty world. Makeup has been apart of my life for so long, because of dance competitions as well. Looking back, if I could tell myself to not where makeup, I would. It clogged all my pores, causing me to breakout, which left me with moments of picking at them and scars down the road. I tell every young soul I know to not wear it. Makeup is fun, but a super easy way to disguise ourselves. Our face and our skin is our platform and canvas.
This being said, there are many makeup brands and skin brands that all have harsh chemicals that pore clog and honestly do nothing for your skin. I still wear makeup today, but I have filled my heart with love for cc and bb creams! They are light, give me a nice natural coverage, and still let me show a little bit of my imperfections. Many struggle with acne, and many are fearful of showing it. Let that fear be replaced by faith and effort! I advise anyone reading this to do your research, and come up with a routine that makes you excited to take care of yourself. Any kind of skin healing phase may be long or short, because everyone is different! Flaunt the process, and know that it will get better!
The most simple advice:
-RESEARCH! It took me weeks to figure out the ingredients that possibly may be bad for my skin type. When researching, make sure you are searching for products that are guided towards your skin type. Not all chemicals are bad.
- Washing my face with a nice cleanser, in the morning and night. (Remember- Even when a bottle says organic, it doesn't always mean it is all natural with no harsh chemicals). Do your research of all the nasty products you do not want to put on your skin! ** Some people have found that only washing there face once a day works too!
- Always apply spf! I have found such a love for my "I.T. cosmetics" CC cream! It is light, covers my blemishes, and is one of the most cleanest brands I have found! Everyones skin reacts differently to products, and sadly it takes a ton of trial and error.
-Trial and Error: I advise many to keep a skin log of pictures in your "Notes" app. This method helped me keep track of what products maybe messed up or helped my skin. Along with this, maybe even write down what foods you ate. This could help you discover an allergy to a certain foods that may affect you skin.
- Be gentle on your skin! I love using my bare, clean hands to massage any cleanser or moisturizer! I feel that I have the most control.
- Oily Skin: I am constantly oily! From the research I have done, I have concluded that my skin produces oil because I don't have enough. Do not avoid moisturizer because you are oily. Those who are oily, are the ones that need it!
- Dry Skin: I have patches of dryness, but I wouldn't call my skin "dry". The best advise I can give is do not pick that dry skin or it will scar! Let the skin heal. I did not do this in my early years, and now I regret it!
Below, I show all my favorite skin products at the moment. I can truly say that I do love these products. They all have given me some sort of noticeable change! My skin journey is still in the loop, and I see a dermatologist visit in my near future, BUT maintaining and taking care of your skin is the highest priority!
